Made from handpicked grapes, grown on low cropped 46 year old Shiraz vines, utilising small batch fermentation techniques including hand plunging, followed by maturation in French and American oak barrels for three years.
From the first vintage in 1978, our Shiraz sets a benchmark for peppery Shiraz, renowned for its definitive flavour, balance, structure and ability to age gracefully in the bottle, given careful cellaring.
The palate is rich, mouth filling, well balanced and complete. It finishes long, with a final grip of fine tannins and persistent spicy fruit flavours.
Shiraz from Macedon Ranges is the definition of cool climate. There is a blackberry and blackcuraant nose that is given aromatic support from both French and American oak that provides generosity and depth. This is a wine of elegance and structure with a fine baseline of tannin and acidity. The palate builds with unsweetened licorice, blackberry, black cherry and a dusting of white pepper. The finish has a tar and roses like complexity to finish with flashes of oak giving a final embellishment.
